Plan Your Best Orlando Vacation Yet: How Vacation Rentals By Owner Give You More And Help You Save

Orlando is a haven for fun family activities. From Disney World to Gatorworld and everything in between, there are literally weeks worth of activities here.

orlando magic snapback

If you're bringing along the kids, the grandparents and maybe even the cousins, it only makes sense to take advantage of the many Orlando vacation rentals available. You won't pay extra for additional rooms, won't have to request adjoining rooms and can even make your own breakfast and dinner to save a few dollars.

ORLANDO

In Orlando, there are literally thousands of vacation rentals to choose from. You might rent a villa, condo, apartment or pool house. These Orlando vacation rentals are equipped with more than a regular hotel room (some including plasma TVs and hot tubs) but might cost the same or even less than an Orlando-area hotel room.

Once you find your Orlando villa rental and settle in for your vacation, it's time to explore this exciting and activity-filled city.

Since Disney is the destination of the majority of Orlando visitors, you'll likely start there. You could spend days exploring the wonder of the Magic kingdom and Epcot alone. But don't forget to take time to visit Disney's two water parks - Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon.

After you're done with Disney, take a day off to enjoy the pool or hot tub at your Orlando-area villa rental or spend a day shopping at Downtown Disney, which is full of upscale, family, and unique shops and fun restaurants. Or head for Orlando's Old Town, an outdoor shopping area full of restaurants, amusement park rides and more than 75 specialty shops.

Once you're relaxed and ready to resume activities, consider Universal Studios or head for the Kennedy Space Center, located just about 45 minutes away from Orlando. There, you might meet an astronaut, train in a spaceflight simulator, or visit the Astronaut Hall of Fame. If you're lucky, you might see a space shuttle lifting off.

When you're ready for something a little different, take a drive from your Orlando villa rental one day to the Holy Land Experience. Dubbed a "living, biblical museum that takes you 6,000 miles away and 2,000 years back in time to the land of the bible," it's sure to be an outing to write home about.

For another fun outing sure to challenge the mind, explore Wonderworks, a museum/interactive facility which is called "an amusement park for the mind".

Although Orlando is home to many high-energy activities, there are many relaxing options available as well. Of course, you can always relax at your Orlando vacation rental, but you might want to head out to one of the more than 100 golf courses in the area or go shopping at the upscale Mall of Millennia. Check out Bill's Airboat Adventures, where you can take a guided airboat tour of the marshlands and backwaters of the St. Johns River.

No matter what you choose to do in Orlando - and there are many options - you'll surely enjoy retreating each night to the comfort and homey feeling of your Orlando-area vacation rental.

SeaWorld Orlando Florida - Savings, Entertainment and Meal Tips

Planning a family vacation can be loads of fun, especially if SeaWorld Orlando is your destination. Resources are available to help with the research and planning including automobile clubs and online travel resources. In this article I will share savings, entertainment and meal tips that made our multiple visits enjoyable and perhaps may add to your family's enjoyment of this wonderful park.

Save on SeaWorld Orlando Park Tickets

ORLANDO

We purchased our park tickets online at the SeaWorld website and were able to buy adult tickets at the children's ticket price and receive a second visit free! We enjoyed having an additional day to visit the second half of the park. We also found the free second day tickets needed to be collected at the Customer Service desk located on the left after walking through the Main Entrance.

Save on Parking at SeaWorld Orlando Florida

The park offers Shamu V.I.P. parking at an increased rate over the regular parking rate. The V.I.P. parking provides parking closer to the park entrances. In March 2009 the Shamu V.I.P. parking rate was versus the regular parking rate at the time of .00. The tip I would like to share here is that We found arriving at the park within one hour of opening gave us access to parking lot B which was within close walking distance to either of the park's entrances, especially the entrance closest to Parking Lot B. It is close, convenient and cost efficient!

Entertainment and Food Tips for SeaWorld Orlando Florida

The Believe Show and the Blue Horizon shows are must-see shows that the entire family will enjoy! Arrive early at the shows and secure your favorite seat! For the Believe Show, my family sat in the soak zone hoping to get drenched by one of the whales, while I sat in a beautiful seat that was dry and still had a great unobstructed view. The music, animals, and trainers provided stunning entertainment. If you arrive early to the Believe Show there is a snack bar located at the base of the stadium if you want a little snack to enjoy prior to the show start time.

The Blue Horizon show is outstanding also and if you enjoy taking and watching video the center section aisle seats are sure to be the place to record fantastic video of the show. As with the Believe Show the Blue Horizon show is a beautiful showcase of color and imagery including macaws, a condor and the famously acrobatic dolphins.

Mango Joe's is the place to go for outdoor dining with great food and beautiful surroundings! Located close to the Believe show stadium and the Wild Artic attraction, this was a perfect spot for fajitas, chicken fingers and fries, fresh garden wraps, chocolate cake, and a couple adult beverages! The food was fresh and the al fresco dining was superb.

Several Reasons to Smile

SeaWorld Orlando is a fantastic park. During our visits we have found the staff members to all be gracious, the park and facilities to be very clean, and a large assortment of activities including lots of rides. A trip to SeaWorld Orlando is sure to please, and with a little savings on tickets and parking, there are even more reasons to smile!

Can Upholstery Cleaners Really Make A Difference In Commercial Areas?

Upholstery cleaners are often used for many auto detailing and domestic cleaning jobs. These cleaning machines are ideal for tackling the interiors of small vehicles to RVs to boat interiors. They can also be very handy for cleaning up a sticky spot or stain on the couch or carpet at home. These systems have many uses in other commercial capacities as well. The hotel industry and other areas of the hospitality sector in particular, can benefit from upholstery cleaning units in a number of different ways.

cordones toms

The Sofa in the Lobby

CORDON

In order to understand the need for good upholstery cleaners, we need to understand the cleaning needs of a place like a hotel lobby. The hotel lobby is a very important place for a number of different reasons. Not only is it openly visible to guests and visitors, it also sees a lot of traffic. Because these areas are so visible, hotels take special efforts to ensure the carpeting and the furniture always looks the very best. However, the constant traffic does not make this an easy task. From a spilled drink to a child's muddy shoe to dropped cigarette ash, a hotel lobby sofa often has to deal with different stains and debris. Cleaning these kinds of deposits is not always an easy task. The job needs to be done quickly but it needs to be done effectively as well.

The best upholstery cleaners for commercial areas do not rely on any kind of harsh chemical cleaning agents to remove dirt and debris. Upholstery cleaning should be used with green cleaning chemicals to remove sediments and stains that may be deeply embedded in the upholstery. This means that there is no risk of harsh chemical traces or fumes being left behind after cleaning. By using the right type of wands, these units can easily clean hard-to-reach areas.

Suction and Extraction

When choosing the right upholstery cleaners and upholstery cleaning machines for commercial areas, drying times need to be considered. Certain upholstery steam cleaners and carpet cleaners use large amounts of water for cleaning. This means the upholstery is often quite damp afterwards and takes a long time to dry out completely. This could lead to foul odors or germ and bacteria growth if the upholstery can't dry out completely. Damp upholstery also poses an inconvenience as guests will not be able to use the area until it has dried out completely. It is not very feasible for a hotel to cordon off their lobby for hours on end, simply so the upholstery can dry out. To avoid this problem, it is better to invest in cleaning units like carpet cleaner, upholstery steam cleaner that rely more on suction and extraction powers to remove dirt.

Upholstery cleaners and carpet cleaners that use less water for cleaning do not compromise on cleaning power in any way. These upholstery cleaning machines and upholstery steam cleaners use precise and strong suction power in order to loosen and remove sedimentation and debris completely. In this way, the upholstery can dry out completely and quickly, without the risk of foul odors or germ growth.

Wusthof Knives Sets - The Best in Kitchen Cutlery

Wusthof has been manufacturing international standard cutlery since the 1814. The company prides itself for being hands on in all the processes of making a knife from start to finish. Wusthof knives sets exhibit meticulous attention to detail and precise hand-finishing. The brand is an established name in the cookware industry for being a pioneer knife manufacturer and the uncompromising and consistent quality of its knives.

le cordon bleu cookbook

Wusthof has one of the most extensive knife collections you can find. They come in various designs and price range; some of them better than others - but the Wusthof trademark of quality in itself is one reason why customers keep purchasing Wusthof knives. Sets of cutlery available for purchase include Wusthof's Classic knives, Culinar, Le Cordon Bleu, Ikon, Grand Prix II, Gourmet, and the Emerilware collection. With the choices available, anyone has the liberty to select which Wusthof best suits his cooking needs.

LE CORDON

Let us take a look at some Wusthof knives sets and the features that sets them apart from other types of cutlery:

Wusthof Classic Knives

Wusthof Classic brings high-performance knives that will never go out of style. Featuring a three-rivet handle design, the best selling line has remained a top customer favorite over the past several years. Traditional handles and blade design are some of the distinctive features of these Wusthof knives. Wusthof Classic is a solid choice for those looking for basic, reliable knives.

Wusthof Le Cordon Bleu

Le Cordon Bleu are essentially updated versions of the Wusthof Classic. Both lines carry three-rivet handle designs that reduce hand strain and make the knives easier to control. Le Cordon Bleu knives have thinner blades in response to the proliferation of Japanese knives in the US market. Other features include a bolster-less design and steep sharp edges.

Wusthof Ikon Knives

Ikon is a newly introduced design line by Wusthof, coming out in 2007. Ikon knives have taken some of the best performance and design features of other Wusthof knives sets and used them to create an excellent line of cutlery products. One noticeable improvement is the ergonomic black resin handle with three rivets. A tapered bolster, which makes sharpening and usage a lot easier, has also been added. The design and the performance of Ikon knives make them one of the most highest rated Wusthof knives.

Wusthof Culinar

The Wusthof Culinar line is the brand's collection of stainless steel-handle knives. Because of this, the knives may actually be a bit heavier than most, which a lot of customers apparently find a bonus. Culinar knives look minimalist and sleek and they perform efficiently, too. The prices for this line have recently been lowered, giving more people the chance to grab their own set of these superior Wusthof knives sets.

Best Places to Buy

For more information on their products, visit Wusthof.com. The website automatically displays retailers available in your locality. Online, you can place an order for Wusthof knives sets from CutleryandMore.com, Yahoo Shopping, ChefKnivestoGo.com, and many others. Knives by Wusthof come at reasonable prices. Texas Thanksgiving Cornbread Dressing Recipe

Ingredients:

cordones toms

Pan of cornbread, usually 4 boxes of Jiffy Brand cornbread.
1 package of Jimmy Dean sausage cooked; hold the grease to mix with the rest of ingredients. If you want to be healthier remove it, but remember it is the Holidays.
1 pkg. of shelled Pecans
1 can chicken broth
4 celery stalks (use the hearts for tenderness, and best flavor)
1 medium sweet onion chopped
2 Apples chopped you can use whichever is your favorite
2Tablespoons poultry seasoning
2 Tablespoons of Rubbed Sage
1 Tablespoon of Fresh Rosemary, if you live in the Central Texas area it is plentiful. But you can find it at most grocery stores.
1 Tablespoons salt, or to taste
2 Tablespoons black pepper

CORDON

Preparation:

Make your cornbread and remove it from the oven and let it cool. If you want to spice it up you can use the Jalapeño cornbread instead of the plain. If you like spicy this gives it an added kick, and it is very tasty! When you cornbread is cool enough to work with you will combine all ingredients in a large bowl and mix until all ingredients are mixed together well. You will then add to a pan, or pans depending on the size to cook the dressing. You will preheat your oven to 350 degrees. The approximate cooking time will vary depending on your oven. I would check after about 30 minutes and then check every 10 after that. It should take no longer than an hour or so to be completely cooked. If it has some browning on the top of the dressing that is totally okay, you actually want it to brown some for texture. You can check after 30 minutes with a toothpick for doneness, and when it comes out with no batter on the toothpick, the dressing is done. I hope that you enjoy this dish, it is a favorite around my house during the Holidays. Enjoy!

Information on the Orlando Climate

The Orlando Climate is sub tropical. The weather tends to be warm and humid. The climate is influenced by several factors. The Gulf Stream and the city's proximity to the Tropic of Cancer affect the climate. The low elevation of the city adds to the humidity level. There are two basic seasons in Florida: a hot summer season and cooler winter season.

Orlando Climate in the Summer Season

ORLANDO

During the summer season, the weather is hot and humid. The average temperature during the day is in the nineties. At night, the temperatures range from the seventies to the eighties. The heat index during the day can get quite high. A heat index of over one hundred degrees is not uncommon.

The summer is also the rainy season in Florida. Storms are quite common, especially in the late afternoon. Most of these storms are caused by air from the Atlantic and air from the Gulf colliding over central Florida. At times, these storms can be quite violent. The storms often bring wind, thunder, lightening and hail. Orlando is known for more lightening strikes each year than any other city in the United States.

The rainfall during these storms can be very heavy. The months from June through September bring the most rain to Orlando. The average rain fall during these months is about fifty inches. In some years, this number is even higher. Often, the storms are strong, but short lived. You will usually be able to enjoy the evening outdoors after a storm. Unlike some areas of the country, the rain does not cool the temperature. Often the humidity is even higher just after a thunderstorm.

Hurricane season also occurs in the summer. The official hurricane season runs from June through November. Since Orlando is not on the coast, the city often escapes the brunt of the storm's landfall. By the time most storms reach the city, they have weakened considerably. However, this doesn't mean the city is safe from these strong and unpredictable storms. The city has sustained damage from several storms over the years.

Orlando Climate in the Winter Season

In the winter, you will know why Florida is called The Sunshine State. There is very little rainfall during this season. Most days are dry and sunny. The weather in the winter really is beautiful. This is a fabulous time to plan a trip to Florida. Many tourists flock to the area during this season to escape the freezing temperatures in the northern part of the country. For more information contact the Florida Tourist offices.

The months of December through May are the driest months of the year. In some years, the weather is way too dry during the winter months. This increases the risk of wild fires in central Florida. In the past, these have gotten quite severe.

The temperatures in the winter season are very mild. The average daily temperature ranges from the mid sixties to the seventies. The night time temperatures are generally in the fifties. There is virtually no snow in the Orlando area. The few times there have been flurries, they don't accumulate. If you want to escape the winter, this is the place to come.

Orlando Florida Vacation Guide

One vacation destination that many will travel to for the first time is Orlando Florida: known for incredible theme parks, tasty dining options, luxurious resorts and more.

orlando magic snapback hat

Whether you are planning an Orlando Florida Vacation to visit Disney World, Sea World, Universal Studios, or a number of other famous attractions, preparing for the big trip can often be a hassle. I'd like to give you a quick guide on how to efficiently plan your Orlando Vacation, from where to go and stay to the places to eat and play.

ORLANDO

1. What to Bring to Orlando

Most often it is warm in Orlando during all seasons, but make sure that you check up on the weather for your vacation week and pack accordingly. If you have kids, bring layers for cold nights in addition to bathing suits and warm climate apparel.

2. Find an Orlando Hotel or Resort Nearby

Although there are quite a few good hotel deals around Orlando Florida, many of them don't have close access to Disney and the other theme parks. Your trip will be much better if you have easy access to the fun destinations you want to go to. Many of these resorts and their partners will offer special Orlando Vacation packages that provide theme park tickets in addition to lodging for a value price.

3. Pick your Theme Park

If this is your first time to Orlando and have a limited amount of time, how do you decide between Disney, SeaWorld, Universal Studios and Busch Gardens? This depends on who you are traveling with and what kind of Orlando experience you want to have.

Family with Young Kids: If you are with young kids, Disney World is a sure thing; the Magic Kingdom and Epcot offer a a great deal of fun and a lifetime of memories for those impressionable young minds. Family with Teenagers: If you are traveling with teenagers (who are difficult to impress), Universal Studios can provide them countless hours of high-tech fun that revolves around the hottest movies and trends. Romantic Getaway: If you are on a romantic getaway, Downtown Disney's Pleasure Island is a great place to grab a good drink and romantic dinner. Busch Gardens is also provides a fun day-time adventure for a couple looking for a good time. Animal Lovers: For animal lovers, Sea World and the Animal Kingdom are the places to experience the adventure of Underwater Seascapes and African Savannah.

Texas Pecan Hand Held Pie Bars

This recipe is a bar cookie recipe. It is fairly simple to make, and will go over great at any party. You can serve them on a nice platter or serving dish if you wish. The bonus to this recipe is that they can also can be served on napkins if you wish, they are a hand held treat if you so desire.

cordon bleu cognac price

First the pie crust:

CORDON

1 ½ sticks of butter

2 cups all purpose flour

½ cup of packed light brown sugar

½ teaspoon salt

Preheat your oven to 350F degrees. You will combine all of the ingredients in a food processor, and mix. You will stop mixing when the mixture it starts to become small crumbles. If you do not have a food processor you can us a hand-held mixer. You will then, add the dough mixture into an un-greased 12 by 12 inch baking pan, and press the dough into the pan until it is uniform and flat. You will bake for about 10 minutes and turn 180 degrees in the oven to ensure even cooking, and then cook for about another 10 minutes until it is golden brown, so about 20 minutes total. I would check during the cooking process just to make sure it is not getting overcooked.

While your crust is baking you will want to get started on your Texas Pecan Filling:

2 Cups of crushed Shelled Pecans

1 Stick of unsalted butter

1 Cup packed light brown sugar

1/3 Karo Syrup

First, If you do not have crushed or ground pecans you will need to grind them in a food processor, or by hand. In a sauce pan, melt the butter, and then stir in the brown sugar, Karo Syrup. Bring the mixture to a simmer, stir frequently, and cook for about 2 to 3 minutes. You will start to stir in the pecans, and make sure they are completely covered with this sugary mixture. Take the sauce pan off of the heat. When the crust is ready, pour the pecan mixture over the top, and make sure it is spread evenly. Then, bake the pecan pie bars for about 20 to 25 minutes.

Make sure the Texas pecan pie bars are completely cool, this is a must, before you cut them into about 24 pieces. If they are not cool the liquid will run out and the bar will be dry.

Are You a Gourmet?

What exactly does it mean to be a gourmet? Does watching public television cooking shows on Saturday morning while folding the laundry count? How about being fascinated with Julia Child and having all of her cookbooks on your Amazon wish list? Knowing what zest, garam marsala and charcuterie mean, does this qualify you as being a gourmet? Where did the term come from and what exactly does it mean?

le cordon bleu cookbook

A gourmet is someone with a discriminating palate who is savvy when it comes to fine food and drink. The word comes from the French word groumet which defines a person in charge of the wines at a meal. While this definition is a start, most people think they have a discriminating palate, but discriminating between a Big Mac and a Whopper probably doesn't count. What exactly are gourmets discriminating about? Who decides what is and isn't gourmet? From my research, I have come up with three things that qualify a person to call themselves a gourmet. While not an exhaustive list, qualifying in each of these three categories is a good indication that you can call yourself a gourmet.

LE CORDON

If you still don't own a blender because you are saving up for a Waring or refuse to brown your bagels in anything other than a Dualit toaster, you are good in the first category of gourmet, knowing your equipment. Note that I don't say you need to own this equipment to be a gourmet, just know what it is and have a sincere desire to own it all someday, like when you win the lottery and can actually afford it. A few of the necessities in a gourmet kitchen include a Cuisinart food processor, Emilie Henry bakers, All-Clad pots and pans, Viking range, SubZero built in refrigerator, Kitchenaid mixer, Espressione espresso machine, Wusthof knives, and a Polder thermometer and timer. You will also need to include fine china, silver cutlery and beautiful table linens. Doing some calculations from the Williams Sonoma site (which should be one of your favorite places to shop), a fully equipped gourmet kitchen including service for 8 would come to over ,000.00 This figure doesn't even start to cover the many food items you should have.

That brings us to our next category, food. Do you know terms such as foie gras, sevruga, gravlax, fleur de sel, truffles (not the chocolate kind) and herbes de provence? Have you ever eaten any of them? If you can answer yes to most of these, you are a definite gourmet. A good gourmet kitchen will be stocked with the finest wines, caviars, cheeses, produce, meats, breads and pastries. It will also have multitudes of herbs and spices as well as liqueurs and natural extracts. Hundreds of volumes of cookbooks are also a necessity and must include authors such as Jacques Pepin, Simone Beck, James Beard and of course, Julia.

The last area that defines a gourmet is drive. This means wanting to constantly learn more about fine foods and wines. Taking vacations to France and Italy are a start as well as visiting wineries, fish markets and farmers markets everywhere you go. Food should be an obsession, not just a past time. Magazines such as Saveur, Cuisine, Cook's Illustrated, Fine Cooking, Gourmet and Bon Appetit should dot the landscape of your home. You should also have a strong desire to take cooking classes and cooking vacations and your ultimate dream would be to one day attend "Le Cordon Bleu" cooking school in Paris. Yes, knowing French is a strong plus.

If you can say you qualify in even two of these categories, I would say you are a budding gourmet. Three would mean you are definitely a gourmet. Now that you have qualified yourself as such, don't hesitate to share it with others. Remember, however, that they may want you to actually cook something for them since they assume all gourmets can cook. This, however, was not one of the qualifying factors, so don't feel pressured if actually using your gourmet items scares you. Instead invite them to a gourmet restaurant and correct their pronunciations of items on the menu. Knowing the equipment, understanding the names and tastes of the foods and having the desire to cook someday is all you need to be a gourmet. Besides, who has time to cook when you are so busy learning to be a gourmet?

Dining Out in Orlando - From Budget to Fine Dining

One of the pleasures of any vacation is trying out the cuisine of a particular locality. If Orlando is your vacation destination then you will have a wide choice of restaurants to choose from. It would never be possible to give a complete survey of the dining possibilities in Orlando or any city in only one article but here is a sampling of low budget and high budget restaurants that have proven popular with visitors to Orlando.

Since I am writing this during a time of economic recession let me start with the low budget restaurants. These are places where you can get a good meal but not dent your wallet too much.

Orlando Vacation Rental - Orlando Luxury Vacation Villas

Orlando luxury vacation villas should allow you to enjoy your well-earned holiday in the most luxurious Orlando vacation rental homes that Florida has to offer. Whether you are visiting Orlando with your family for a visit to Disney World, or with your partner or buddies on a golfing trip, you will be seeking accommodation offering you something different from that you are used to.

orlando magic snapback

Orlando has great deal to offer, and although it best known to many for Disney World, the fairy-tale complex was not sited in this part of Florida by accident. The climate is ideal for a vacation, and the area offers lots to do and see, such as Gatorland, Universal studios and a host of golf courses in addition to all the night-life you want. It is one of the world's best known vacation destinations.

ORLANDO

If you are used to the best that life has to offer, why should your vacation home in Orlando offer you less? If you are like most of us, and enjoy a bit of luxury once in a while, just check out what Orlando vacation rental villas have to offer. Just as Disney can satisfy the imagination of your children, Orlando can cater for your imagination in what you might want in your vacation home.

If you want a pool and Jacuzzi or spa, you've got it. No need to share a pool with an entire hotel - you can have your own with a short term Orlando luxury vacation villa. You can also rent a town house, condo or estate villa in its own extensive grounds or as part of a complex. How about a gourmet granite kitchen, home cinema and entertainment system, or fantastic floors made of marble? You deserve a bit of luxury while on vacation: you have worked all year for it so why not pamper yourself?

Sure, if you are used to luxury you can likely book a top class hotel, but why cram yourself and your family into hotel rooms when you can enjoy the comfort of a proper home. You can enjoy the privacy and peace and quiet that you cannot get in a hotel, and many people opt for vacation estate villas just for these reasons. If the thought of cooking makes you shudder you are not forced to use the kitchen since Orlando boasts some of the best restaurants in the world.

There is a wide range of Orlando luxury vacation homes available for short term rental, with villas of up to eight bedrooms on offer. Such properties also offer up to eight bathrooms, and most have pools and spas with other luxury facilities. Considering the number of shopping malls and restaurants available in and around Orlando, these are genuine alternatives to hotel rooms. In fact the rooms tend to be larger and better furnished than the average hotel room, and many people prefer them.

Little wonder, then, that Orlando vacation rental villas are increasing rapidly in popularity, and if you take the current economic situation into consideration then they are suddenly compellingly attractive. You get a lot more for your money with a vacation villa in Orlando than with a hotel Normally, if you want experience the luxury that these Orlando luxury vacation rentals offer, you would have to book into a top class hotel at a fairly high room price. However, that need not necessarily be the case with a villa since the relative costs depend on the size of your family or party. This is easier to understand if you consider how the system works.

These villas are designed to offer luxury, and are decorated and furnished to a very high standard. The pool, spa and entertainment facilities have been previously mentioned, and some also offer a games room including a billiard table. Yet others are part of a complex, offering a gym, restaurant and other communal facilities.

You pay for the vacation villa by the day, irrespective of the number in your party up to an allowed maximum. For example, a typical 6 bedroom Orlando vacation rental villa sleeps 12 people at a cost of 5 daily during the summer and less the rest of the year, except special times such as Christmas. Compare that with the price of hotel rooms for 12 people and it is clear why this type of vacation accommodation is becoming increasingly more popular.

Add to that the privacy that your own villa offers, the peace of not having noisy people enter the room next door in the early hours and the increasing financial pressure being placed on families as the credit squeeze tightens and money becomes scarcer, and it is little wonder that the proposition is so attractive to so many people.

If you intend to vacation in Orlando this year or next then you will find Orlando vacation rental villas available close to Disney and to Orlando itself, and also near all the major tourist attractions in this part of Florida. You will not be disappointed with any of the Orlando luxury vacation properties available for short term rent.

Movie Lovers - Enjoy Your Visit to Universal Studios, Orlando

If you are fascinated by the movies and made-in-Hollywood films then a visit to the Universal Studios theme park in Orlando Florida is the golden opportunity to go on thrilling rides based on your favorite movies and to get behind the scenes and see how movies are actually made.

orlando magic shorts

There is a lot on offer at Universal Studios so here is a brief guide to what you can enjoy there.

ORLANDO

The first stop for film and movie buffs is probably the Production Central area of Universal Studios. You will find it just beyond the front gates it is a real working film and television production studio. If you are fan of the Shrek series, then be sure to take in the Shek 4D feature. Despite the name it is actually a 3D film, produced in "Ogrevision" and has the standard Shrek cast of Shrek, Princess Fiona, Donkey and Prince Charming.

Universal also combines standard roller coasters with film themes. An example of this is the Revenge of the Mummy ride. The Universal Studios website describes it as follows: "Plunge into total darkness as you face fireballs, scarab beetles, and an army of warrior mummies on a psychological thrill ride totally unlike anything that's come along in the past 3,000 years!" If that sounds attractive, then be sure to get on this ride.

If you are a science fiction fan then Universal Studios is the right place for you. The Terminator series was a scary look at the near future and the Terminator attraction at Universal Studios and the Terminator 2: 3-D Battle Across Time is sure to thrill fans of the film series. Universal claims that is one of most technologically advanced of theme park rides, on this planet.

Speaking about planets, would you like to help the Men in Black protect the Earth from alien threats? If so then do not miss the Men in Black Alien Attack ride. Universal created 120 creepy alien "species" for this attraction, and you get to ride in a six-passenger vehicle that is "armed" with laser guns. When you get in the vehicle you will chase the aliens through the streets of New York City and it is up to you to protect the planet by zapping the aliens.

One of the biggest blockbuster hits of Universal Studios in Hollywood was Jaws, and in Orlando Jaws is brought back to life in a thrilling ride. You get to face the three-ton monster in a flimsy boat and it is sure to get your adrenaline pumping.

There is of course, lighter entertainment at Universal including plenty of outdoors shows. The Blues Brothers Show and the tribute to comedy queen Lucille Ball are two very popular attractions at the park. And if you are looking for entertainment, then be sure to stay around for the night clubs, restaurants and concerts at the CityWalk area of this theme park. CityWalk combines dining, shopping and entertainment venues all in a compact and fascinating "downtown" area adjacent to the other attractions of the park.

All in all, Universal Studios lives up to its reputation as one of Orlando's major attractions.

Florence, Italy Cooking Classes

Some of the best food in Italy comes from Tuscany. And as the region's most visited city, Florence is the center of Tuscan cuisine. Unlike the food from Southern Italy, the cooking here doesn't rely on tomatoes, cheese, and other ingredients that Americans link to Italian food.

cordon bleu

Here, the emphasis is on seasonal local ingredients like wild boar, asparagus, truffles, and rabbit. And, of course, many dishes are prepared with the excellent wines from the region. Most of the dishes are easy to make, full of flavor, and designed to stick to the ribs.

CORDON

If you'll be in Florence for a few days, and you'd like to learn more about Tuscan cuisine and how to prepare it, half- or full-day cooking classes are a fun way to meet others, have a good meal, and acquire some new skills. Several classes are taught in English most days of the week.

One of the best-known cooking schools is the Culinary Institute of Florence, which falls under the Apicius International School of Hospitality. Students can take everything from a one-day course to a masters degree program here. If you have the time, the one-week program includes individual and group lessons, wine tastings, markets visits, and more.

Silvia Maccari is a well-known Italian cookbook author and food expert who teaches classes in her lovely apartment. The day starts with a tour of the San Lorenzo market, where student pick up what they'll use to prepare their meal. Back at the apartment, the class makes four courses, and then enjoys them together with wines that Silvia has selected to go best with the dishes.

The Scuola de Arte Caulinaria Cordon Bleu has been in the center of Florence since opening in 1985. Travelers who want to learn something specific, like making chocolates, pastas, or appetizers will find a wide variety of courses at this cooking school, ranging in length from one day to three months.

Well-known chef Giuliano Bugialli has been teaching classes at his Cooking in Florence since 1973. The school is located in Bugialli's 15th-century farmhouse in the Tuscan countryside. At the week-long course, students learn to make about 35 dishes, and enjoy dinners at local restaurants, wine tastings, and visits to area food producers.

Claudio Piantini teaches at the luxurious Relais Torres Guelfa in Figline Valdarno. One of the best parts of taking a class here is touring the beautiful cook's gardens that Piantini keeps and using the fresh herbs, vegetables, and fruits for the meal. When the weather is nice, dinner is served on the pool-side terrace.

Californian Judy Francini started Divina Cucina after moving to Italy in the 1980s. She offers one-day and one-week classes to a mostly American clientele. On Mondays, classes include a tour of the market and lunch at a charming Florence trattoria. On Wednesdays, classes are held at a friend's villa in the country.

How to Plan & Design a Tablescape For Rental Stores

Designate an area for the tablescape. Don't rip apart your showroom or table without a design plan. Include in the plan details of tablecloths, plates, china, etc. If you don't have a large area then a small table with a scaled down version of a full-size table display will do.

cordones

Cordon off the showcase area; set up a pillar or lattice divider to create a separation. These items serve to separate but don't fail to suggest that they can be rented also.

CORDON

Have all items ready on hand before you begin and placed nearby. Make sure to iron or steam any tablecloths or fabric that will be used in the display. Use 2 tablecloths an overlay and underlay. When you are ready to begin make sure you use good tables. Don't put great displays over broken tables a customer may want to add tables to their rental sale.

Make sure the centerpiece matches the theme or purchase props for your display.

Place as many rental items that you own on or near the table. Once the table is completed don't stop; think about adding more. Layer more products on the table than normal-add 2 table number holders, extra glasses and a coffee server set. Add covers to your chairs and ties. Add invitations. Add candles.

If the set-up is a wedding theme then place a satin or lace mailbox or a wishing well nearby.

The key is to show a tablescape that will stir your customer's imagination. More items on display may make the table seem a bit crowded but showing items for inspiration is what leads to a multiple rental sale. A good showroom is staged to rent!

How I Sold 37 Bottles of Wine in 45 Minutes at Trader Joe's

I shop at Trader Joe's regularly, and I always see people going up and down the aisles looking for a bottle of wine and not knowing what wine to take home. Frankly with the many choices available, and not knowing what's what, it is not always easy to choose the right wine.

cordones toms

So, I decided to do an experiment one day. One Saturday this last summer, I walked in to one of the Trader Joe's stores in San Diego, California with a clipboard in my hand, pretending that I am writing down a list of wines I like to get for an event. I walked up to every customer that came to the wine section and started looking at the wines for a minute or two, and told them, without introduction, about how good certain wines were in the section and how they tasted.

CORDON

Except for a few of the customers, most of them looked at me like I was a god sent. Almost, everyone of them grabbed a bottle or two of the wines I suggested, and thanked me for it. One guy even took 9 bottles of wine and filled up his hand basket. Keeping track of how many bottles people took, my tally read 37 after 45 minutes. I was so gratified to be able to make a difference in some people's lives by making them a little easier.

My goal has always been to contribute to the world in a positive way. I am happy I succeeded in this case.

Blizzard Beach in Orlando

Blizzard Beach? Where in the world is Blizzard Beach? Are you one of those people who has not heard of Blizzard Beach? Well, let me tell you about this crowning jewel of Orlando Florida and my trip to this exciting resort.

orlando florida

I discovered that Blizzard Beach was the only place in the state of Florida where I could find snow everywhere however I observed no ice what-so-ever. Blizzard Beach is a 66 acre plot of land developed as a water adventure park and located at Orlando's Disney World Resort.

ORLANDO

Only at Blizzard Beach did I experience a water park that appeared as a ski resort amidst a tropical lagoon. Blizzard Beach developed when a freak winter storm deposited snow upon the western portion of Disney World's property. With this idea in mind the management at Disney World developed the first Floridian snow ski resort.

Unfortunately, the planned did not quit develop as expected. The hot Florida temperatures soared higher and higher causing the ice and snow to quickly began to melt and disappear. The resort operators closed down shop just as quickly as they had opened their doors. Rumor has it that one of the operators noticed a small alligator sliding down the ice slopes and an idea was born. The operator realized that the melted snow created a very tall, fast and exciting water filled toboggan and ski run. As a result of these observations a ski resort and water adventure park developed and was born. The park was located north of the Disney All Star Resorts.

During my visit to the park I was greeted by the amazing views of "skiers" that were sliding down the side of a 90 foot snow crested mountain known as Mt. Gushmore. Mt. Gushmore is home to the parks newest waterslide affectionately called Downhill Double Dipper. This is the only side by side water slide which stands 50 feet in height and 200 feet in length. I ended up traveling 25 miles per hour caught in its twisting turns before finally being deposited through a shower of water. It also features a slalom course, both a water sled run and a toboggan slide. The 120 foot long Summit Plummet is the highlight of this theme park. This plummet is the nation's fastest and tallest free fall slide around.

Once I tired of the slides, I visited Teamboat Springs which brags as being the world's longest white water rafting ride anywhere. They take up to a family of six in a raft down the twisting 1200 foot water falls. Nearby I discovered the Toboggan Racer. This is an eight lane water slide which sends the guests racing over several exciting dips as they quickly descend the snow covered slope.

Don't think for one moment that the fun ends here for included in these 66 acres of land are the Snow Stormers, the Runoff Rapids and the Chair Lift. If you plan a trip to Orlando and specifically to the Disney World Resorts you should especially make plans to see Blizzard Park.

Tomato Plant Types - Vine Tomatoes Or Bush Tomatoes

Vine tomatoes are also known as indeterminate tomatoes or sometimes cordon tomatoes. These are the varieties that need to be pruned in order to limit the growth to a central stem consisting of around 4 to 6 trusses.

cordon bleu price

This is achieved by pinching out or pruning the side shoots and then, when there are the required amount of trusses, the main stem is cropped off at the top. If you don't do this then you will end up with an indeterminate amount of growth with lots of small fruit that is unlikely to ripen. The plants will also be prone to problems as the side shoots will run along the ground where they can pick up and are likely to contract disease.

CORDON

Another way of controlling the growth of these plants is to cultivate them in pots or grow bags, but as one would expect growing in containers is a little more labour intensive particularly when it comes to a watering system.

Bush tomatoes are the alternative tomato plant and are known as determinate because their growth is self limiting and as the name suggests are bush like in appearance.  The main disadvantage with this type of plant is that they tend to produce all their fruit within a very short time frame producing a short lived glut of tomatoes. Not great for the home gardener as you can end up with lots of tomatoes you cannot use fresh and have to turn to ways of preserving the fruit such as making chutney for instance.

For this reason many home gardeners tend to stick to the vine tomatoes that fruit regularly over the whole season, particularly when they have a reasonably long summer period.

What is a Shallot and How to Cook Them

If you're wondering what is a shallot, you might like to have a look through a French cookbook. Shallots are a very common ingredient in French food where you'll find their mild oniony flavor used in a wide variety of dishes and sauces. Learn a little bit about shallots with these tips and then give them a try. You'll soon find them nearly as indispensable as onions in creating your favorite recipes.

cordones

What Does a Shallot Look Like?

CORDON

Shallots do come in a variety of shapes and sizes, but in general they are smaller than an onion. They might be purplish or rose, as well as white or grey in color. They are shaped similarly to a garlic clove, although larger. Like garlic, you may find them in a head, with several shallots attached together. In general, when a recipe calls for a shallot, they are referring to an individual "clove" of shallot and not an entire head.

Selecting and Storing Shallots

Shallots tend to be moister then onions and therefore more susceptible to mold and rotting. When buying this vegetable, you'll want to look carefully for any beginning signs of mold. The shallot should have a dry feel to it, but it certainly shouldn't be shriveled.

You'll want to store your shallots like onions, in a cool dark place. A basket on your pantry shelf should work fine. It is best not to store them closely packed, as any mold will spread quickly if they are touching.

Preparing Shallots

Shallots are peeled similarly to an onion. Slice off the ends of the shallot, and then grab a hold of the thin skin and peel it back. In most French cooking the shallots are chopped more finely then an onion.

Cooking with Shallots

Although they are similar to an onion, there are some important differences in how shallots are used in French cooking.

Less is more. One or two shallots finely chopped are usually all that is needed to add a subtle, slightly sweet flavor to recipes. Go slowly. If your recipe calls for cooking the shallots in butter or oil, you should do so on a low temperature. Just like garlic, shallots can over cook easily. You want them to come out soft and slightly caramelized, not crunchy and bitter. Marry it well. Shallots are especially tasty when cooked with white wine, cream and butter. Substitute. Although there's nothing like the real thing, if your recipe calls for shallots and you have none on hand, you can try substituting an equivalent amount of red onion.

Now that you know what is a shallot, be sure to try them. You should be able to find them at your grocery store, and if not, please do ask for them. You'll be happy to find a wonderful and easy way to add new flavor to your cooking

Attending Top Culinary Schools Requires Some Cooking Knowledge

Boiling water without burning it may seem like a simple process but in reality there are some individuals who simply do not know their way around the kitchen. They cannot tell you the difference between sauté and broil. Culinary students who are interested in the top culinary schools must have some background in the kitchen if they hope to become an executive chef one day.

le cordon bleu books

They have to know the basics if they want that 'A' on their souffle. It can be a demanding career and one that is tough on the body, mind and ego but for those who have the determination the pay off is extraordinary.

LE CORDON

Top culinary schools are not everywhere. There are many located throughout the United States that offer a comprehensive cooking degree upon completion, yet there are some that do not and so you must go online. The only online school that may be applicable, should you want to run the front end of a restaurant, is The University of Phoenix with their Hospitality and Business Management program. However, this program will only teach you how to run the front of a restaurant, as it will not include any instruction in the culinary arts.

Many cooking colleges offer a special type of arts program that is world renowned. At the California School of Culinary Arts Pasadena, you can partake in the Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Arts program, about which most people are most familiar.

It is a great curriculum that offers three distinct programs, which you can either take separately or all together. They offer the culinary arts program, a baking program and a program that focuses on Hospitality and Restaurant Management.

If you are not thinking about obtaining a certificate or degree and simply want to further your skills and knowledge in the kitchen, then you may want to think about specialized classes in one area of culinary delight. You could take a Thai cooking school class or even an Italian cooking school class to teach you how to make those wonderful dishes you order at restaurants.

Choosing from among the top culinary schools can be difficult for students. Not everyone is cut out to be a chef. Some people never aspire to learn how to make the dishes served in five star restaurants. But for those who persevere and learn the tricks of the trade it can be a rewarding career filled with excitement and advancement. It is a dream of a lifetime for those individuals.

Italian Wedding Cookies Recipe

I will be catering several weddings this spring, so I came up with my own version of Italian wedding cookies, after many trials, and a few errors to produce a delicate buttery cookie that is made with ground nuts. There are several different types of these cookies which include the Mexican Wedding cookies, often coated with a mixture of cinnamon and confectioners' sugar. The Russian Tea Cakes which can be made with ground hazelnuts, and Italian Wedding cookies which traditionally use ground almonds. All of them are delicious, and each recipe utilizes a different proportion of butter and flour. They are a very good suprise in you mouth, delicate little cookie. I would try all different types, or versions to figure out the one you like best.

cordones toms

These Italian Wedding cookies are buttery, delicate, and have a wonderful flavor. This is a very easy recipe to make, and they are worth the effort put forth for every cookie and crumble left.

CORDON

Italian Wedding Cookies:

1½ cups unsalted butter

¾ cup confectioners' sugar

¾ teaspoon salt

1 ½ cups finely ground almonds

4 ½ teaspoons vanilla bean paste

3 cups of sifted all purpose flour

1/3 cup confectioners sugar for dipping

First, preheat your oven to 325 degrees if you have an electric oven and about 300 to 315 if you have a gas oven. Gas ovens cook much faster than an electric oven depending on the oven. If you have a convection oven I recommend turning the fan off if you can, it will burn the cookies before they are fully cooked.

First you will soften and mix the butter in a bowl, and you will sift and then add the ¾ cup confectioners sugar and salt to the butter. You will then mix the butter, and sugar with salt mixture until it is light and fluffy. You will now add the ground almonds and the vanilla bean paste. You will then add the sifted flour in until it just mixed, you do not want to over mix, or overwork the dough. The cookies will not be very light in texture if you do.

Take about one teaspoon of dough in your hand at a time, and roll it into a ball. You will then place the rolled cookie dough balls on the parchment paper or an ungreased cookie sheet if you do not have parchment paper. You will then bake the cookies for 15-20 minutes. You will want to watch the first batch fairly closely and turn halfway through baking to ensure even cooking. You want to make sure to get them cooked but not too brown. Once the cookies are done you will remove from the oven, and cool the cookies for about five minutes, and then roll in the left over confectioners sugar.

You will then hold these little delicate cookies until you are ready for service.

Julia Child's - "Mastering the Art of French Cooking" - A Short History

Julia Child; born in Pasadena, California as Julia Carolyn McWilliams August 15, 1912.

cordon bleu liquor

Julia Child spent her early years in California where she grew up and attended school. Julia Child's first position out of college was with W. & J. Sloane as a copywriter in New York City. A few year in 1937 after her debut on Madison Avenue, Child's moved back to California, where she continued to write and work in advertising.

CORDON

Julia Child met her husband Paul Child, while serving with the OSS (Office of Strategic Services the forerunner of today's CIA) in 1944.

Paul and Julia were married in 1946 and soon after he joined the US Foreign Service. Paul Child had a taste for fine food, probably due in part to living in Paris prior to meeting Julia. As a employee of the US Foreign Service, Paul was sent to Paris in 1948, where he introduced his new bride to sophisticated French Cuisine. Julia described her first meal in Rouen, France as "a culinary revelation".

Paul's work at the embassy would keep him away from Julia most of the day, creating a void and desire to offset her boredom. So, Julia began to enrolled in many different classes. Eventually she enrolled in the famous Le Cordon Bleu cooking school. It was no easy task at first, being in a school of only men at the time, she had to learn to love cooking as much as she loved eating.

Julia Child's graduation from Le Cordon Bleu created an opportunity for her to meet the two women that would become co-authors of her first cookbook "Mastering The Art of French Cooking"; Simon Beck and Louisette Bertholle. The two had create a cookbook that featured French Cooking for Americans, but lacked the proper English translation. Julia was asked to join the women and added her own translation and special American slant to the manuscript.

Child's kitchen was used as the training grounds for American women to learn French Cooking and the trio began teaching classes and testing recipes from the Paris kitchen. During this time Julia's husband Paul, was transferred by the US Foreign Services to various locations throughout Europe. Julia moved with him, while continuing to write the book and test new recipes.

Although they spent most of their time in Europe, Paul and Julia would also spend summers in Maine. Julia made her first trip there in 1947, visiting Mount Desert, where Paul's family owned a 20 acre parcel. She continued to test and write even while visiting Maine. And according to her Brother-in Law Charles Child's book "Roots in the Rock", she used a stove nicknamed "John Henry", to cook her creative dishes.

It took Eight years to complete and in 1961, after it's rejection from publisher Houghton Mifflin, Alfred A. Knopf finally published the book. The final cookbook titled "Mastering The Art Of French Cooking" was a total of 734 pages. It became a best seller and put Julia Child on the map.

Julia Child's career blasted off from there, as she began to write columns for the larger newspapers along with TV guest appearances which lead to Julia Child's first television show "The French Chef". The show first aired in February 1963, there were other cooking shows on TV at the time, but Julia's was a huge success right from the start. Eventually running for more than ten years.

Julia Child also wrote four more books: a second from the recipes she created on the TV show "The French Chef Cookbook". The Third book "Mastering The Art of French Cooking; Volume II" came out in 1971, co-authored by Simone Beck (Louisette Bertholle was not asked to participate as the partner was dissolved). And a fourth book that featured Paul Child's photographs of Julia's kitchen and recipes.

Julia Child's mastery was viewed by millions on the TV shows of the 70's and 80', but didn't stop there. She also produce a video series in 1989 called "The Way To Cook". Julia Child's cooking, experimentation, openness to new ideas and tools (the microwave, food processor...) and her love of cooking, inspired many of today's fine chef's and TV cooking shows. Her love for cooking as well as eating shone through her many cooking programs.

You may recall Julia flipping an omelet that ended up on the counter, only to pick it up and place it back in the pan stating " just put it back in the pan if no one's around, they'll never know, just pat it down..."

Bennnigan's boasts of offering 100 types of beer and other drinks as well, making its alcoholic menu greater than its food menu. The food is served in a loud, lively atmosphere. Some specialties include the fire-roasted salsa shrimp, charbroiled and basted in a smoky sauce, the Monte Cristo, combining ham, turkey, and Swiss and American cheeses on wheat bread that has been dipped in batter and deep fried. If you are watching your weight there are several healthy, low calorie "Health Club" dishes.

Bubbalou's Bodacious Bar-B-Cue 5818 Conroy Rd. Orlando, FL 32819

Bubbalou's is considered by local residents to be one of the best rib restaurants in the area. You can order at the counter, get a drink and then sit down at a picnic table. You can try the chopped pork sandwiches and the "Texas caviar," cold black-eyed peas in a spicy vinaigrette. In addition to the ribs you can choose from the chicken, lamb and smoked turkey. All of these cooked over an open-pit fire. Be careful for their "killer" sauce, it can destroy your taste-buds! The restaurant has been voted Central Florida and Orlando's Favorite BBQ Restaurant and BBQ Catering Service by the readers of the Orlando Sentinel
