Central Florida is home to the happiest place on earth, Disney World. But, come October, Orlando transforms into a scare-fest of Halloween fun. Don't worry, though, there are options for families to enjoy along with the events that are geared toward the older crowd.
Universal Orlando Resort is embracing the spirit of Halloween this season to the fullest with Halloween Horror Nights. But note, Universal Orlando strongly suggests these events may be too intense for younger children, so take that as a warning if you have kids. Both parks, however, are promising bone-chilling frights and blood-curdling scares for those who love to be scared during this annual holiday.

Universal Orlando Resort is celebrating its 18th Annual Halloween Horror Nights by bringing Urban Legends to the forefront of its festivities. This year, Bloody Mary serves as the scariest host of all, and she intends to bring all of the most frightening Urban Legends to life. Universal Orlando Resort is promising more Scare Zones, more Scare Actors, the most haunted houses ever and all new live shows. The event begins at the end of September and runs through November 1st.
On select nights throughout the months of September, October and November (September 26-27, October 2-5, 9-12, 16-19, 22-26, 29-31, November 1), the theme park is transformed in the spookiest place on earth, complete with nightmarish labyrinths of haunted houses, fear-inducing live shows, and scare zones crawling with mutants, monsters and maniacs. Voted "The Country's Best Halloween Event" by Amusement Today, this Halloween event draws hundreds of thousands of horror fans from around the world for a night of terror.
Universal Orlando Resort Halloween Packages are available as well, for those that need a place to stay at night. With option one, guests can choose to attend just the Halloween Horror Night event. Option two offers guests the chance to spend the day at the park enjoying Universal Studios or Universal's Islands of Adventure while capping of their night admission to the Halloween Horror Night event. Both packages are a great deal, and provide a great way for revelers to enjoy this October holiday-- so book your Universal Orlando Halloween Package today.
Two other theme parks are going the family-friendly route with their celebrations. These events are geared specifically toward children, and create Halloween atmosphere unlike any other for families. Disney World is celebrating Halloween with Mickey's Not-So Scary Halloween Party, where children can come in costume and trick-or-treat with some of their favorite characters. A not-to-be missed portion of this event is Mickey's Boo-To-You Halloween Parade, which takes place in the Magic Kingdom. The parade features a spooky headless horseman (not too spooky though!) and the Disney Characters parading around in Halloween costumes. It's a fun event for children, as they can dress up with their favorite characters and feel like they are part of the parade.
Mickey's Not-So Scary Halloween Party offers opportunities to go trick-or-treating at a variety of locations in the park, creating a truly magical experience for any child. The Magic Kingdom's most popular attractions are also open during this event. The highlight of the night is The Happy HalloWishes Fireworks Display, where the night sky is lit up with Disney characters trick-or-treating in spectacular fashion. Mickey's Halloween Party is presented on select evenings from September 5 to October 31.
SeaWorld is also presenting an event the whole family can enjoy - Spooktacular at Sea World. In an interesting combination of concepts, Sea World combines its sea attractions with Halloween, creating a "Fantasea" for Halloween you won't find anywhere else. This annual event features the opportunity for children to go trick-or-treating among mermaids, octopi, pumpkin fish and friendly sea witches. The entire resort joins in on the fun, including Shamu's Happy Harbor, where it is transformed into an Autumn Festival, complete with pumpkins, scarecrows and fanciful seas creatures like Gummy Worm Wanda and Swedish Fish Suzy.
Another highlight of SeaWorld's Spooktacular Event is the Countdown to Halloween Live Stage Show featuring Sesame Street Characters The Count, Elmo and more. The Count will also have a character breakfast where kids can eat and meet their favorite Sesame Street Characters. SeaWorld's Spooktacular Event is included in the regular admission price for the park.
Orlando embraces the fun of the Halloween season by providing celebrations for both kids and adults. No matter which event you choose, you'll be sure to have a Halloween full of tricks and treats.
